Women in Construction Week UK 2026: Why Inclusivity Matters

ReadyFix is proud to join the construction industry in celebrating Women in Construction Week taking place from 1st-7th March 2026.
Highlighting women during this week shows that construction is not just a career for men – it is an industry where women can achieve too.

What is Women in Construction Week?
Women in Construction Week is an annual industry initiative that celebrates the achievements and contributions of women in all aspects of the construction sector.
With women only making up 15% of the UK’s construction workforce, it is crucial that we continue to promote diversity and create opportunities for more women to enter skilled trades, management roles and leadership positions within construction.
This year’s theme “Level Up, Build Strong” reminds us to keep raising the bar professionally and personally to help build a future where women are key decision-makers and leaders in the construction industry.

Why Inclusivity in Construction Matters for Women
Historically, construction has been a male-dominated industry. However, with more women being employed each year (with a 3% increase in 2025), it is crucial that we continue to promote inclusivity so more women can enter these trades and help balance representation.
Attracting more women helps widen the talent pool so that there is a broader skill set in the industry, giving them the potential to play a pivotal role in driving the industry forward by bringing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.
Inclusive workplaces help improve respect and collaboration, which in turn, creates safer and more supportive work environments.

How Can We Continue to Support Women in Construction?
· Build inclusive environments: ensure policies, facilities and site culture works for everyone and continue to challenge stereotypes.
· Prioritise safety: provide correctly fitting PPE and equipment for all body types and offer training and mentoring that helps women grow their skills and confidence.
· Celebrate achievements: share stories that reflect the range of work women do across the construction sector – trades, engineering, operations, administration.

Looking Ahead
Women in Construction Week not only celebrates the contributions of women within the industry already – showing how important they are in the construction industry – it helps inspire future female generations on the opportunities available in the construction industry.
It is not just a celebration – it is also a call to action to build a supportive and diverse industry where women can thrive and pave the way for a more inclusive construction industry in the future.
